In part 10 of my Content Marketing Series, we continue with how you can use social media to share your content and gain more exposure to your blog.
By Herman Drost
If you’re not using social media these days to market your business you’re limiting the size of your audience. Some years ago if you simply submitted an article to a few of the top article directories it generated a lot of traffic back to website. This isn’t true anymore because the Internet has changed. Many people now use social media sites to interact with others. How can you harness these traffic sources so you can attract more business?
4 ways to use social media sites to distribute your articles
1. WordPress blog
Using WordPress software for blogging is a great way to keep in touch with your visitors. There are many tools built into it which enables you to easily share your content with others. Some of these include:
RSS feeds
Visitors to your blog can subscribe to your RSS feed by clicking on the orange RSS icon
Comments
Business can comment on your content by filling out the form at the bottom of each post.
TrackBacks
When someone links to your blog post within their own content it places a link in your comment section.
Pinging
When you add new content to your blog it automatically pings (alerts) the search engines. This is why your blog content may immediately appear and rank in the search engines.
Social bookmarking
If you add social bookmarking icons to the end of your posts it enables visitors to easily share your content with others.
2. YouTube
YouTube receives more traffic than Google therefore why not use this social media website to attract more visitors to your articles. Convert your written article into video by reading it in front of a camera or creating a slideshow then upload the video to YouTube. Include the video on your blog to let people know about it. Video articles often achieve better rankings than written articles.
3. Twitter
Set up a Twitter account to build a community of followers. Every time you write a new article notify your followers by creating a headline that will inspire them to check out your article. The article directory EzineArticles enables automatic integration with your Twitter account. This means every time you submit a new article to the directory it will automatically “tweet” your article.
4. Facebook
Create a Facebook fan page to build a community of people interested in your content. Notify your fan base every time you’ve completed writing a new article. Facebook pages are now indexed by Google which increases your online visibility.
If you use these four social media websites to distribute your articles you’ll generate lots of traffic by boosting your link popularity, increasing search engine rankings and building a community of followers that love your content.
