“If you have the desire and drive, commit to your dream and start where you are.”
It may sound easy – start where you are…but when you don’t have the right mindset and attitude, that can be a very daunting task. What many people don’t realize is that we have all the resources, tools and intellect we need to purse our heart’s passion. The reality is, what we need is already on the inside of us. However, most people don’t believe they have what it takes, so they don’t tap into their abilities and take action.
It takes a certain level of thinking to trust yourself enough to move forward with an endeavor, even if you don’t know how you will make it. You’ve got to develop your mindset and be totally willing to show up for yourself.
From that point on you can start where you are.
You still may be thinking that sounds impossible, but I assure you, it’s not. When I launched my business online in 2009, I had absolutely no clue about what I was doing. But I knew that in order to achieve my goal of making a living using the internet, I had to just start.
I crafted my plan and developed a strategy based on some research. I knew I had to establish myself in my industry and build an online presence. Did I know how to do that being brand new, starting from ground zero? Absolutely not.
What I did know, was that I was fully capable and willing to learn the skills I needed to make it happen. I had to learn how to set up a blog so I could market myself. I had to learn how to create effective content. I had to learn how to utilize social media and email to promote myself and attract people. I had to learn how to sell and automate my business. I had to learn how to expand and grow.
The point is, I wasn’t afraid to start where I was and at that time, it was with a $20 investment in my website and hosting. I learned as I went. Each time I wanted to reach a new level, I committed to learning a new skill. A skill that would help me reach my new goal.
Far to often, people talk themselves out of doing anything because they are afraid they are going to fail. The only way you would fail is if you gave up. The individuals who experience success are those who fail their way forward. You try something, and if it doesn’t work, you try something else…but you don’t quit.
So, the next time you tell yourself you can’t do something…remind yourself that you CAN, if you are willing to try and start where you are.
