Did you set out to become an entrepreneur so you could have more freedom?
The freedom to own your life?
Did you dream of having more time with your family?
Relaxing more and sleeping in?
The life of an entrepreneur, sounds sweet doesn’t it?
When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, that was my idea. But soon I discovered, that was far from my reality.
It was long hours, late nights and a thousand and one things that always needed to be done. It was constant learning, applying and the testing of different strategies and ideas. My life as an entrepreneur was constant work. After some time, I began to reevaluate my situation because I started to feel like I had no freedom.
I realized I needed to make a choice in order to live like the entrepreneur I had envisioned.
And like me, one day it may hit you like a ton of bricks, too.
What I became aware of was that if you truly want to own your life, you’re going to have to follow your true passion.
In order to do that, you have to first acknowledge your purpose. The reason you were created. You might have to make some hard decisions. Things that will challenge you to come out of your comfort zone.
The question you need to ask yourself is, “how bad do I want this?” and determine what you are willing to do (or not do), to make it happen.
When you take the responsibility to own your life…
You are able to think and see clearly. You can focus on eliminating fears so you can experience more victory. You will begin to notice a shift in the way you think and your outlook will also change. When you own your life, you’re able to stand strong in your self belief! (Tweet This)
Once you choose to venture down the road of entrepreneurship, you’ve got to be 100% committed to your success. You’ve got to be willing to make sacrifices and let some people and things go. But most importantly, you have to be able to make the changes that will give you the ability to own your life and have more freedom.
In other words, step your game up!
What are the things that are holding you back from having the life you really want? Is it your own doubts and fears? Is it the idea of stable security from a job? Could it be the opinion of others that worry you?
Understand this, anything that keeps you from pursuing your passion is preventing you from owning your life. If you know that there are things blocking your dream of being an entrepreneur, now is the time to face them.
Spend time with yourself to figure out the reasons why you aren’t able to fully move forward. Then make a decision to fix it. Remember, the choice is yours. How bad do you want to own your life?
Money won’t create success, the freedom to make it will. ~ Nelson Mandela
This is great, Tamyka! It’s so true that the decision to take responsibility for our lives is a vital part of our success. Every morning, I recite an incantation that begins with the words “I take full responsibility for the experience I am having”. It sets me up to stay present, to get clear on how I want to feel, and to remember my commitment to a certain way of being. So glad you’re sharing this with your tribe!
Thank you Akilah! I love your daily incantation and it is very important that we set the tone for ourselves each day by first claiming our responsibility to SELF!
When one does something they are passionate about they tend to have more fun and gratification doing so.
The long days and hours put into your dreams are minor as compared to making someone else’s dreams come true! Love your article!
You’re so right, Jacqueline! People have to realize, they have what it takes to get to that place. Thanks for sharing!
