When we are comfortable, we become too content.
I was motivated to write this post after I saw this topic on Facebook. I had to share my thoughts. It really made me stop and think because this is something I’ve realized for some time, but it was the way it was said that really hit me.
It made me think of all the people who search and search for an opportunity to create financial freedom for themselves. Most never get started. For those who actually do, the majority of them quit before they can experience success.
I used to wonder why…but I now realize they are brainwashed.
You see, they believe that in order to earn any significant amount of money, you have to have a good paying job. You have to work hard. They believe that having a job…with a boss who pays you, is the only legitimate way to earn income.
When you first start a business, you probably won’t make money right away. You might not make money for a month or more. People who “try” a home based business and don’t earn anything at the end of a work week almost automatically assume…it’s a scam.
Here is the truth…with a business, you have to invest to get started. You have to work the business every single day and learn the skills that are needed to grow a business on your own.
It’s NOT AT ALL like a job.
A robot can show up to a job and perform.
The sad reality is as a society, we have been conditioned to believe that hard work equals wealth and success. Which is untrue.
Most people are entirely too comfortable to ever make a REAL change for themselves. If you have a job, you have an income. If you have a job, you (more than likely) have benefits. If you have a job, you are able to put food on your table, keep a roof over your head, and pay your bills.
COMFORTABLE.
Starting a business requires a disruption of normalcy. How many people do you know who would like their current way of living to be disrupted in even the slightest bit?
Not very many.
When you choose to start a home based business, you will have to do things you are uncomfortable with doing. You will have to talk to people about your products or services even when you are not 100% confident in your level of knowledge. You have to address questions and concerns you may not have the answers to.
You will have to promote and market yourself and/or your business. That requires a certain level of know-how, which means you have to spend time learning these things.
Guess what? Most people find this in and of itself, too time consuming, or difficult. So they give up. They quit. They aren’t willing to do something different, even if it will change their entire life.
People are more committed to their job, than they are to themselves. That’s scary!
Think about it…
How many people do you know who are REALLY willing to sacrifice comfort and familiarity to do something totally new and foreign? Even if it will improve the quality of their life over time?
How about you? Something to really think about…
So, when people say to me, “is this a scam or one of those pyramid things”, or “why do I have to pay to get started”, or “I’m not a salesperson”, or “I don’t want to try and then waste my money”…
They are really saying…I don’t want to change. I’m not willing to be uncomfortable.
They lack the ability (at this point in time) to comprehend, that a business can bring more money than their job ever will. Simply because, it does not always deliver an instant return.
As a home based business owner, you have to be able to meet people where they are (currently). Most will not join you straight away simply because they are fearful of change. Your role, moving forward if they decide to remain connected to you, is to inspire and educate them with truth.
When they finally gather up enough faith, and have made a decision, they will let you know when they are ready to get started.
If you are someone who is truly seeking something more, but have allowed doubts and fear to flood your thoughts…I encourage you to first, do your own research. Then, find someone who who has a home based business, who will be honest with you and help you determine if this is something you are willing to do for yourself.
