In the summer of 2002, I was first introduced to a home based business. I was 22 years old, newly married and a mom of 3.
As an only child raised by my grandmother, I knew by the time I was 11 that when I grew up, I wanted a large family and to work from home. Even though I had no idea what that really looked like back then…I dreamed of being my own boss.
When the opportunity was presented to me, I was very interested. Not because of the products (because I was not into makeup), but I was very intrigued by how I could make my own money from home.
That meant I could be a full-time mom…which I always planned to be.
It meant I could work for myself…which I always wanted to do.
In that business, I had an AMAZING Mentor who poured into me. Not just professionally, but personally as well. She taught me sales. She taught me business etiquette. She taught me how to network. She taught me the importance of learning and knowing my business.
Not only that, she pushed me out of my shell. She inspired me to be a better version of myself. She coached me and helped me develop confidence and belief in myself.
After 8 years of being a part of her team and with that company, I realized it was time to move on. As I transitioned to another business, I was able to grow quickly using the same knowledge, skills and mindset I had adopted previously.
The ONLY thing I needed to learn to sustain my business was how to market online. The process was still the same as offline – meeting people, building relationships and seeing if what I offer would benefit their life in some way.
What changed was the method in which I would do this using the internet. When I discovered Internet Marketing, I realized the power I now had access to!
It allowed me to genuinely attract people while still being my absolute true (introverted) self.
What is the point of me sharing this story?
It’s simply to encourage you to never limit yourself because of the opinions of others. If you have a vision or goal for your life, nothing can stop you from it…but you.
You must remain open to learning both personally and from others who inspire you along your journey.
Can you be successful in the home based business industry? Absolutely! As long as you believe you can, you will.
