When you commit to building your home based business online, there are a few key factors you should identify, and have in place. Let’s be real, building a business online isn’t quite the same as offline.
Just know, however you choose to build, it’s always about relationships.
#1 – You need to identify your target audience
NO, everyone does not want or need your product, no matter how amazing it is. I don’t care what your company is preaching or your upline is teaching…whatever you offer is not for everybody.
The sooner you can wrap your mind around the fact that marketing on the internet requires you to be specific and exclusive, the easier it becomes.
It reminds me of back in the day when I used to go out
stalking prospecting people at the mall, following the “3-foot rule”. You know, anyone who gets kinda close to your personal space, you spark up a conversation, compliment them so you can give them a business card or a sample, while trying not to feel like a complete fool.
Randomness doesn’t work if you want to create success online.
Stop saying, “but, I don’t want to leave anybody out…”, um…yes you do!
You want to come off attractive to a certain type of person – the type who already knows they want what you have, and are ready to pay for it.
How do you find them online?
#2 – You create content that ‘speaks’ to them
It’s really that simple. Give your target audience the information they are craving, then share it. The content you create can be in the form of blog posts, videos, audio recordings, presentations… whatever your heart desires.
- What results do your product or service provide?
- Who will benefit the most from your products or service?
- How will your product or service improve their life, or even partnering with you?
Your objective with the content you deliver, is to answer these types of questions.
Do you see how how identifying your target audience first, will help you create content that resonates more with them, rather than being broad and too generic?
Focus less on the method of delivery, and more on the message. When you are looking to create success online in your home based business, it’s important to remember it’s all about giving your audience (potential prospects), what they want.
When you learn how to effectively embrace and implement attraction marketing into your business, you will start getting the results you want. Just remain consistent with putting out content.
#3 – Provide a unique offer for your ideal prospects
You know how it goes…
Along with giving valuable content, you also need to show people why they should choose you, over someone else. It’s one thing to attract people to you, but what then?
You’ve got to take them to the next step…
Building your email list.
As you grow your business online, you will need to build an email list of potential customers. After a prospect consumes your content, the action you want them to take afterwards, is to get on your list.
Give them something they can’t resist. An offer they can’t get from someone, or somewhere else.
What kind of freebie can you give away, that is closely related to your product or service?
A product sample? A complimentary consultation? An ebook or tip sheet?
Whatever you decide to offer, make sure it will match their interest. This is a simple way to get them to give up their contact information, in exchange for your freebie!
Now you can begin the most important part of your home based business…establishing a relationships!
#4 – You need a way to follow-up
You know the saying, “the fortune is in the follow-up”.
Yep, it’s true…yet, so many home based business owners totally drop the ball in this area. I can’t tell you how many people have reached out to me after trying to contact representatives in their local area, or people they knew personally…who never followed up.
Believe me when I tell you, people are ONLINE RESEARCHING your company and products. I have enrolled numerous reps into my home based business, who found me online and joined with me, because someone else let slip through the cracks.
One way I have accomplished this is by being extremely diligent in my follow-up. Having some type of customer relationship management system in place that will help you stay organized and build rapport, is an absolute must.
Have a system and a process in place for how you will run your business efficiently.
