I’ve heard that phrase many times but it never really made an impact on me as it relates to me personally. Yes, I know I am an asset – to my children, to my husband, in my business and to you. I’ve always invested in educating myself to be a better entrepreneur, but more recently, I made the decision to value myself more on a personal level.

As a work at home mom of six, my world has always been focused on my kids (like many busy moms). In all of what that means, I took a back seat to taking care of myself…neglecting my health.

In 2011, I had my 6th baby and gained a lot of weight (and more AFTER she was born). I was tired all the time and suffered from frequent joint pains and wasn’t eating right or making healthy choices. I didn’t have the energy to exercise, caffeine was my best friend and truthfully, I pretty much gave up on the idea I would ever lose the weight.

I began feeling depressed and didn’t go out much. I started having minor health issues I knew I was to young to be having….so, I had to make a decision before things got worse. More than being an entrepreneur, I am a MOM and that is the reason I started a business to work from home. But, I want to be around for my kids and I want to be healthy and in shape too. It’s important that I’m at my absolute best so I have enough of me, to give to my kids.

I joined the Body By Vi 90 day Challenge and began the journey to take back my life and reclaim my health! I’ve committed to a new lifestyle which includes, education, exercise and healthy eating. I have so much energy, no more aching knee pain and I regained my confidence. I’ve lost 23 pounds in 2.5 months and I’m thankful everyday for all the support and encouragement from my amazing Visalus family.

I learned a few valuable lessons…

  • I have to put me first. If I don’t care for myself, no one else will and I can’t operate at at my greatest level if my mind and body are not healthy.
  • I’m not as young as I used to be (although I still am in my mind *smile*) so the crappy food, staying up late and not exercising is no longer cute.
  • Dieting isn’t going to cut it…but changing my lifestyle will. By making a few simple changes to the way I eat and the amount of activity I incorporate into my daily routine makes all the difference.
  • Connect with like-minds. Just like I do in business, I need to associate with those who are all about healthy living and overall wellness.

So, yes…I understand fully that I AM MY BIGGEST ASSET and so are you! The greatest wealth we can have is our health.

Now it is your turn. If you know that you need to take better care of your health and are ready to release some excess weight, I invite you to join me on the challenge! It’s time to reclaim your health, let me help you get started.

“The concept of total wellness recognizes that our every thought, word, and behavior affects our greater health and well-being. And we, in turn, are affected not only emotionally but also physically and spiritually.” – Greg Anderson

Wow you look amazing! A true testimony that if you put your mind to it amazing things can and will happen. I admit I’ve always had a high metabolism which is slowing down as I grow a little older too. I’ve struggled with having to exercise when I have an old mindset (from childhood bullies) that told me I needed to gain more weight. Which brought me to my great lesson: lifestyle change begins with a mindset change. Thanks for sharing your journey and be encouraged!
