Getting Back to the Basics in Business

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed, or burnt out in your business, it’s time to take a brief pause, and get back to the basics.

Don’t feel bad, all entrepreneurs get off track at times.

What’s important is that you recognize when things aren’t going quite right so you can make improvements.

Most times, it’s because we are doing way too much. We get so busy watching everyone else doing what they do. It gets us thinking, ‘maybe I should be doing that too.’

Next thing you know, you have veered so far off course, and didn’t even notice.

You forgot to keep it simple. You know, keeping the main thing…the main thing.

Luckily, it’s a simple fix!

You just got to get back to the basics.

There are no special techniques or strategies needed.

All you have to do is put forth an effort to connect (or reconnect), with the people you serve.

Do you have an email list of any size?

Cool, email them and offer up some free time with you on the phone. Get to know them. What’s their business? What do they want to do? What’s stopping them? What do they wish to accomplish?

Get to really know your people. Then you will know how you can really help them. Take away the guess work.

Don’t have a list? No problem…

Find out where they are, and go there.

Who has time for that? The entrepreneur who is serious about building their business, and willing to…put forth an effort. That’s who.

The awesome thing is, we live in the time of social networks!

Your people are everywhere. Are you looking, is the question.

Do you want to serve mom entrepreneurs? Join a few Facebook groups, learn the culture there, observe their concerns, and start posting useful information that will benefit them.

Help people become aware of who you are as a professional business person.

As long as you have access to the internet, you can never run out of prospects. So, if that’s how you feel…you are lying to yourself.

Meet new people

Can you imagine if more entrepreneurs stopped talking at people, and literally started talking to them?

That’s what we do nowadays – we post, we share, and we update almost constantly. With all of that compulsion, we forget to converse.

If you don’t “know” anyone, that’s the perfect reason to meet new people!

When I was first getting started online, I would send a message to other women entrepreneurs who I admired, and simply introduced myself. I didn’t talk business, just to genuinely connect!

Many of those women I’ve built lasting relationships with, to this day.

The point is…getting back to the basics is necessary at times!

It’s easy to get caught up in in the daily routines, and getting wrapped up in the technical things that are a part of building your business. Yes, those things may be necessary, but we can’t forget what’s most important…

The people.

After all, that is what business is all about. So, if you aren’t feeling things are ‘working’ at the moment, perhaps you should take it back to the basics, and focus on meeting the needs of the people.
